The Department of Telecommunication Engineering conducts research on the study, design, and improvement of modern communication systems and technologies. The department's activities are focused on in-depth study of digital and optical communication, wireless systems, network protocols, and data transmission technologies. Through scientific projects, students and researchers develop innovative solutions aimed at solving practical problems. The department also works in international cooperation to identify and solve urgent problems in the field of telecommunications. The educational process is organized in accordance with the requirements of science and industry, based on advanced technologies.

Currently, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Abdujapparova Mubarak Baltabayevna heads the Department of Telecommunication Engineering. Since the establishment of the department, about 4,000 highly qualified specialists have been trained, more than 400 scientific articles have been published, 5 textbooks and more than 100 teaching aids have been published, and copyright certificates for more than 20 inventions have been obtained.

On August 29, 2013, by order of the rector of TUIT No. 905, the departments of "Telecommunication Networks and Switching Systems" and "Telecommunication Transmission Systems" were merged, and the department of "Telecommunication Engineering," meeting modern requirements, was created. Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor A.M. Eshmuradov was appointed head of the newly created department and worked effectively in this position until 2019. Since 2019, the department has been headed by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor M.B. Abdujapparova.

Composition of the Department of Telecommunications Engineering

Currently, 11 professors and teachers work at the department's main workplace. Of these, 1 candidate of sciences, professor; 5 candidates of sciences (or PhD), associate professors; 3 senior lecturers and 2 trainee teachers are working.

In recent years, the Department of Telecommunications Engineering has been making consistent efforts to develop training laboratories and strengthen cooperation with leading telecommunications companies in order to strengthen practical and scientific activities.

Modern laboratory rooms such as "Next Generation Convergent Networks" and "Optical Communication Systems" operate at the department. These laboratories are equipped with the necessary technical means for conducting practical classes.

The department's integrated activities with industry have reached a new level, especially on the basis of memorandums of cooperation concluded with the branches of JSC "Uzbektelecom" "Tashkent City Telephone Network" and "Telecommunication Transport Network." With the assistance of the "Tashkent City Telephone Network" branch of JSC "Uzbektelecom," training laboratories "Optical Access Networks" and "Telecommunication Transport Network" were created. Through this laboratory, students are deepening their practical skills in the field of fiber-optic access networks and transport networks.
